Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd.

From our beginnings as a shipbuilder in 1878, the Kawasaki Heavy Industries Group has forged an extensive global presence spanning many fields, including transportation equipment such as rolling stock, aircraft, Kawasaki-brand motorcycles, and industrial, energy and environmental plants and facilities.
In the field of rolling stock, Kawasaki has supplied a wide range of innovative products including those for the Shinkansen high- speed trains.
Kawasaki entered the rolling stock market in the United States in the early 1980s. Since then Kawasaki has received orders for approximately 4,000 cars from the United States. To meet these demands, Kawasaki established two manufacturing plants for rolling stock in the U. S.: Kawasaki Rail Car Inc. in Yonkers, New York and Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing Corp. U.S.A. in Lincoln, Nebraska. These two facilities not only create jobs for Americans, they also create trains that are truly "Made in America."
